Being Benedictine is NOT a traditional conference. It is a FACILITATED CONVERSATION among all participants about expanding how we live the Benedictine tradition now and into the future—come ready to actively participate.

Because our goal is to have a broad, diverse and representative conversation, we are allotting reservations by current commitment: oblate, vowed, and others committed to Benedictine spirituality. We are also working to balance participation among larger communities, smaller communities and non-traditional communities. Once a segment is filled, we will start a waiting list. We can accept a total of 200 participants.

Whether or not you are registering for Being Benedictine, if you can make a donation to support this effort, enter a quantity in the donation box that will be multiplied by $5. This will enable us to help participants who may not have the means to attend otherwise. Please note, a donation to Being Benedictine is not tax deductible. We are grateful for any support you can offer.

The $175 fee applies to all participants and includes Friday supper, Saturday lunch and supper, Sunday bag lunch, two socials, breaks and all conference materials.

PARTICIPANT

Register as a participant for Being Benedictine unless your monastery quota of vowed members of oblates is filled. If so, please choose the observer option below. THESE ARE FILLED SEGMENTS:

  • Benet Hill Monastery, Colorado Springs, CO, Vowed and Oblates
  • Mount St. Benedict, Erie, PA, Vowed and Oblates

OBSERVER

Observers will attend all speaker sessions, meals and socials. They can observe the facilitated dialogue sessions if they choose but WILL NOT participate in the dialogue. The dialogue is planned to engage a wide range of voices but at the same time, not be over-represented by any one segment or cohort. Inviting OBSERVERS allows more persons to hear the conversation and carry the ideas back to their own communities.
